today i went to the park and took in some sun for about an hour. I brought my lunch with me which was a banana, petite bagutte with herb cheese, cholocate cookies and a 7-up. I also brought a bottle of water because it was so hot. I listened to my ipod and watched all the paris locals meet up with their friends and spend an afternoon in the park. There were so many tots there today too! it must have been something like Mother’s day out.
I am waiting on Ashley to finish laundry and then I think we are going to go shopping or at least walk around town. So I have had some time to kill… I have three postcards I need to send out so I decided to walk up to the post office next to my dorms
On my way, I was stopped by a friendly looking lady and she explained to me she was from a magazine and wanted to interview me for her magazine and take my picture. Usually I would be walk away but I trusted her.
She asked me where I was from and what I was studying and how I liked studying abroad. Then the photographer took my picture. He had that well known Justice cross on his helmet and I asked him he liked Justice, “uh…. yeah, they are some of my friends…..” Then I told him I wrote an article for a Magazine in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He stopped taking pictures for a second and said he only knew Tulsa from a Beatles song… Get Back. I was telling him that most people I meet from Paris only know Oklahoma from the Friend’s season when Chandler gets transfered to Tulsa. He humored me for a second and then, in the most polite way, told me to hush because he was trying to take my picture.
ANYWAY, the magazine is only published in France and they probably won’t even use my interview. I tend to get shy and stumble when I am put on the spot. But maybe, if they do, They will send me a link to the magazine!
I can’t believe I only have 2 more days here!
bisous!

Sounds like a delicious lunch. I am sure you were very articulate, and you will be on the cover.

Alyse:
Nice to see the French aren’t as self-absorbed as I’ve believed. Lot’s of tots at the park is a good sign.
Interesting conversation with the magazine folks. Did you get the name of the magazine and when the article will be published? I want a copy even if you aren’t in it.
Have you seen any yoga or meditation centers? Guru De lefeire is from France. He started the UGB.
We are all healthy, wealthy and wise in the US. Miss you but know we will see you soon.
Love you,
Dad

Dad - your Seminole is showing!
Saying that you thought “the french are self absorbed” is like saying you assumed all French people were horny cartoon skunks. I know, I know, you are just coming up with commentary based the basic stereotypes you understand about French culture, but to say an entire country is self absorbed . . .
HEY - you just got flamed for the first time on a Blog - CONGRATULATIONS!
I wish Ben would get on here and post, I think he might have something funny to say about this matter which would make my stance seem silly and put me in my place a little - BEN WHERE ARE YOU!!!???
Alyse - did you get the name of the magazine and when it will be coming out? It sure would be nice to get your hands on a few copies. 2 days left!?!? WTF - how did that go so fast?
So now you are off to Budapest to chill with Chris Tierno eh? You are going to have some epic times with ole’ Tierno that’s for sure. Just be sure not to call him “Tiny” - I know it is tempting, and it is kind of what you know him as, but that was his college FRAT nickname and I don’t really think he goes by that anymore. However, he does have a few newer nicknames that you could use if you wanted:
“The DON”
“The Don Key”
“Donkey”
Call him “The DON” - but use both “The” and “Don” not just “Don”
Whenever you can when you are with other people in a group and he is present make a reference to him as “The Don” - he will love that.
Have fun and be sure to make daily posts to tell us all about it!

Dad- the magazine is called MU TEEN I am pretty sure. She has my contact information so I am sure if it is published with my picture and interview in it I will know about it.
also, for such a wise soul as you, you should know better than to make such a hasty generalization. All though the French in Paris are extremely reserved and private they are by no means “self absorbed”. If anything they are far from it. How can a socialst economy be “self absorbed”. The people are here are friendly but not in a way that we are used to in OK. Of course you are going to run into the asshole here and there. That happens everywhere! You are very knowledgeable in many aspects in life but I think it would do you good to step out of your oklahoma comfort zone and face the un known world, like France. Family Christmas Paris 2008, anyone? Better yet! Family Christmas NICE 2008!
